Terms of Use
The short version: be honest, be decent to each other, and do not put anything here you would not want a teacher or a parent to read. The rest is detail.

Agreeing to these terms
By using this site, joining Advocates, or creating an account, you agree to what is written here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. This site is run by Kutoa Foundation, P.O. Box 38302, Olmsted Falls, Ohio 44138.
Who can take part
Kutoa Advocates is for high school students. Accounts are not intended for children under thirteen.
If you are under eighteen, you should have a parent or guardian's permission before you join, submit a form, or apply for a grant — and they should be comfortable with what is in our Privacy Policy.
Your account
Give real information when you sign up. Keep your password to yourself, and do not use someone else's account or let anyone use yours. Turning on two-step verification is the single best thing you can do to keep your account yours.
Tell us at evan@kutoafoundation.org if you think someone else has got into your account.
Logging points honestly
Points exist so chapters can push each other, and they only mean something if they are true. Log hours you actually served and activities you actually did. Inventing points, or logging for someone else, is grounds for removing the entries, the account, or a chapter's standing.
How to behave
Do not use this site to harass, bully, threaten or demean anyone. Do not post anything hateful, sexual, or illegal. Do not share another student's personal information. Do not try to break, overload or get around the security of the site, and do not scrape it.
Notes you add to point entries are private to you and Kutoa staff, but write them as though an adult will read them, because one might.
Micro-grants
Applying for a micro-grant does not guarantee one. Kutoa decides which initiatives to fund and how much to award within the stated $250–$1,000 range, and may decide not to fund anything in a given round. Be truthful in your application; funding may be withdrawn if it was obtained by misrepresentation. A grant is a one-off gift toward your initiative, not an employment relationship, a partnership, or a commitment to fund you again.
Chapters
Starting a chapter means representing Kutoa in your school or city. Chapters and their officers are expected to follow these terms and their school's own rules. Kutoa may decline a chapter application, or end a chapter's affiliation, at its discretion.
Content and ownership
The Kutoa and Kutoa Advocates names, logo, text, photographs and design on this site belong to Kutoa Foundation. Please do not reuse them for anything other than taking part in Advocates without asking.
What you write stays yours. By submitting it you give Kutoa permission to use it to run the program — reading your application, recording your points, administering a grant. We will ask first before using your name, photograph or story publicly.
Ending things
You can leave at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, or close the portal entirely, though we will give members notice if we can.
The site itself
We run this site carefully but we provide it as it is. We cannot promise it will always be available or completely free of mistakes, and we are not responsible for the content of sites we link to. Nothing here is legal, financial or medical advice.
To the extent the law allows, Kutoa Foundation's liability arising from your use of this site is limited. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot legally be limited.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Ohio.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will change the date at the top and tell members.
